The Holmquist Family story begins in 1905 when John V. Holmquist made his way from Finland to help his father clear wilderness area for farming in Mt. Vernon, WA. During the 1920’s, taking advantage of the rich soil and mild weather of the Northwest, the first hazelnut orchard was planted. John V. Holmquist was deeply interested in the welfare of the community and was known for his contributions.
